Evaluation

For this project I had to pick a location and come up with some imaginative and creative images. I was aiming to produce 10-20 pictures and make a photography book, I did achieve this but I found it hard to pick what location to do but the outcome came out well and I have achieved what I wanted to do. I decided to use my 50mm prime lens for these photos used a aperture of 1.7 to give a shallow depth of field, i also used this because then I could have a lower ISO so my pictures would be sharper. I used an ISO of 100 and 200 and used a shutter speed of 125 and 160. Before this shoot I considered what the weather would be like and the clothes I would be wearing because I didn't want any of my clothes or equipment to get  ruined on the shooting conditions. I think my choices were effective because the images came out really well, they're shape and the exposure is just right. The settings I used where right I think these where the best settings I could have picked for this shoot. I think it was effective looking at the weather because if I had gone out and it had been raining earlier during the day the light wouldn't have been as warm as it was, it was a clear day and was raining the day before which was good for the shoot because this was the look I was going for, for the meaning of the photographs. I don't think the research informed my pictures very well. I think the thing that I can probably relate most to these photos is the overlooked photographs that we shot in College. I see similarities to William Eggleston's photos (see below).

I think the strengths of my final photographs are the composition of the photos because some of them are right in the middle and some are cropped but I considered the composition for all of these photos, the ones where some are cropped they were intentional they were not  accidental. Another strength of my photos is the exposure, none of the photos are too bright or too dark and they're all just right. I did this by using my light meter on my camera to make sure all my photos were well exposed. Another strength is my use of color, I have considered the color around the photo I have looked at something and made sure the other colors don't clash in the images. I think my areas for development are firstly to watch my time management because I seemed to only get everything done right before the deadline and puts stress on me to get stuff done. Im going to improve this by making sure I spend more time out of class doing work and as soon as I do something put it on my blog and write about it. Another thing I could improve on is being more adventurous with my editing. The editing that i have done is very simple just adjusting my brightness and contrast and selective color. I can improve this by not being so shy with this and add different effects into the photos. I enjoyed all of the mini projects we did I don't particularly have a favorite out of the few I did. But what I did learn from them all it that the settings are important everywhere you shoot for example I shot the music shoot with a 18-50mm lens and the lowest aperture was 4 and the photographs where too dark even with a ISO of 1600, so when I came to do it again I brought my 50mm prime lens and used a aperture of 1.7 my images where correctly exposed and not noisy as the ISO was on 200/400. I enjoyed them all because they where fun to shoot some where challenging but I liked the challenge I was given. I have developed better knowledge about light and dark, different lens and the areas I'm working with, because everywhere is different with different lighting different scenery different people and people moving or nothing moving at all. It is imaginative because I have thought about the story I'm trying to tell. I have tried to show warn out bits of the park and I'm trying to show as you get older younger memories fade away. I have also used different things around like puddles to take pictures of the fences and stuff around the park. I have learnt that the composition and the photographic style is very important to the image for it to look good. If the composition want any good it would be uncomfortable for the eye and for people to look at. The photographic style is important because if you took a photo in a certain way it and didn't match what you was doing it wouldn't look right it would look odd. I learnt a lot about working in a specialist location, I have learnt that setting and lens are important. If I was to do this shoot again i would have planned the timings better.
